Observatories resemble ancient temples.
In truth, astronomers study much the same mysteries as priests. They are nocturnal beings, disciplined, sitting there waiting for the right weather. Right now, it’s just A, who studies supernovas. She sits in the darkness, waiting for clear skies, possibly writing grant applications in the red light so her eyes stay adapted to the darkness.
J finished his shift. He studies why stars aren’t born in some nebulas at the center of our galaxy. It’s considered abnormal, but it happens. One theory is that there are too many vortices (I forgot the exact term he used), and another is that these nebulas are in a state of magnetic equilibrium and balance. He finds it genuinely fascinating. As for me, I love falling asleep to the sound of the working dome. And tomorrow, I’ll immerse myself in art.
The analogies are great
*astronomers study much the same mysteries as priests*
They both devote their lives to studying infinity but name it differently with different lexicons.
