Basically, Marfa presents itself as an art hub in the desert. There are a couple of foundations here, Chinati and Donald Judd. But on Monday, and generally at the beginning of the week, everything is closed. When asked “why?” at the tourist center, they responded plainly: “because everyone’s recovering from the weekend." Makes sense. A kind of desert vibe. You rarely see people on the streets. However, some local Tajiks, I mean Mexicans, asked me for directions. I guess I have that local desert vibe too, but mainly, I’m just one of those rare people who walk the streets on foot around here...
The food was delicious too. Seriously . I got few burritos for my way to terlingua. This is a good local place even though no one spoke English to me there but they fed me well :)
A cactus liqueurs and plants shop at the former gas station – the eco-friendly agenda is evident...
I absolutely adore these prehistoric stamens which are everywhere
Not sure if one can see from the photo but I was absolutely mesmerised by this asphalt road melting in the sun. Preciousssss
Trains passing through Marfa regularly always send that shrilly deafening warning signal for a duration of time. As if a huge giant accordion slowly falling from a giant table produces this harmonic sound.
And a bit of the desert vibe a la boheme ….
Heard about it. Never been. Great pics
